  • Release dates :
Finland - October 16, 1938 (English dubbing) (Cinema)
    Finland - December 21, 1962 (1st Finnish dubbing) (Cinema)
    Finland - December 17, 1982 (2nd Finnish dubbing) (Cinema)
Finland - Autumn 1994 (3rd Finnish dubbing) (VHS)
  • The movie premiered on midnight in the night from Sarturday 15 to Sunday 16 of October 1938; hence sometimes ascribing wrongly the premiere to the date of the 15th of October 1938.

  • The reason the songs were not dubbed in the first Finnish dubbing would be due to budgetary constraints. As Swedish is Finland's second official language, they used the original Swedish version for the songs.

  • Today, some extracts of the first Finnish dubbing (1962) were found, from a Finnish VHS called "Disneyn suurimmat lurjukset" ("Disney's biggest villains"), released in the early 80s (around 1981/1982).

  • In the 1982 dubbing, the Finnish names of Happy and Dopey were swapped. Happy became Vilkas and Dopey became Lystikäs. According to Filmic Light, for Matti Ranin, the dubbing director, "the word "Lystikäs", meaning almost hilarious, suits the Dopey character somewhat better than "Vilkas" which means nearly wild". In the 1994 dubbing, they re-used the original names of the characters.
  • According to KenNetti, the audio tracks (for audio effects and music) used in the first dubbings contained clearly audible, disturbing remains of speech or singing in English. An entire audio track along with its music had to be removed - and the Finnish choir had to compete with the original English one in the film finale. This problem was fixed in the 1994 dubbing.

  • In the 1982 dubbing, Matti Ranin, the Dubbing director, Translator, Lyricist and voice of Doc, is the father of Matti Olavi Ranin, the speaking voice of the Prince and the Narrator.
  • Johanna Nurmimaa (Snow White singing) and Matti Olavi Ranin (Prince speaking) will dub again Princess and Prince together, under the direction of Matti Ranin, 7 years later, in Disney's The Little Mermaid, as Ariel and Eric.
  • While Matti Ranin reprised his role as Doc in the 1994 redub, Esa Saario, who was the Magic Mirror in 1982, returned as the Narrator in 1994.
  • Riikka Väyrynen, the speaking voice of Snow White in the 1994 dubbing, is known today as Riikka Timonen.
  • Kukka-Maaria Ahonen, the singing voice of Snow White in the 1994 dubbing, is known today as Kukka-Maaria Rajalin. She was just 18 years-old when she sang for the Princess.
