MENA - October 17, 2013 (Modern Standard Arabic TV dub) (JeemTV) - About the Egyptian Arabic dub (1995) :
- Gihan Al-Naser (جيهان الناصر) was originally only supposed to be the Musical director of the movie, and four girls were initially chosen to audition for the role of Pocahontas. Gihan didn't know that Samir Habib (سمير حبيب), the Creative Executive, had sent her demo recording of the songs to Disney, who eventually chose her, as they found her more fitting than the other four girls.
It took her 6 hours to record the dialogue and 2 days to record the songs.
Source : Nasser Al Kuwari - Initially, Laila Jamal (ليلى جمال) recorded both speaking and singing parts of Grandmother Willow. However, the director, Isam Al-Sayyed (عصام السيد), was still not very satisfied with Laila’s speaking parts because she sounded too young. During that time, Blake Todd was expected to visit the dubbing studio in Egypt. It turned out he shared the same concern about Laila in the speaking parts.
Isam then thought that the famous actress Amina Rizq (أمينة رزق) would be the perfect voice for Grandmother Willow. However, he was reluctant to contact her because he deemed it inappropriate to ask her to audition for the role. After explaining to Todd that he would only contact her if she was granted the role, he showed him some of her Egyptian movies and Todd agreed to cast her based on those footages.
Source : shahrayar-stars - Aly Hasanein (علي حسنين), the speaking voice of Ratcliffe, had to come and record his parts again to sound more "violent", as requested by Blake Todd, who pointed out to the Dubbing director that the character needed to be hated; he had been drawn grotesque and was filmed from low angles to make him look distorted on purpose, and his voice should reflect that.
