Iceland - December 26, 1994 (Cinema) - It took 7 months to complete the Icelandic dub. Parts of the dubbing (mixing?) were made in Denmark with the supervision of Júlíus Agnarsson
Source : "Morgunblaðið" 16-Oct-1994 - Karl Ágúst Úlfsson was originally cast for Rafiki and had finished recording his lines when the dubbing director, Randver Þorláksson, asked him if he could try out for another character. Randver had tried out many actors for the role of Pumbaa, but they were all rejected for not sounding "fat enough", and the deadline was approaching: if a voice could not be found in time, the dub could not premiere in theaters. Karl tried out for the role as well and was eventually accepted for Pumbaa too.
When the credit list was sent to the USA for the localization, Randver got a call from Disney, asking if two actors had the same name since they saw Karl's name for both Rafiki and Pumbaa; Randver answered that it was the same actor dubbing both, which did not please Disney. Stating it was a violation of their instruction again one actor dubbing two roles in a same dub, Disney asked for Karl to be kept on only one of the two, and recast the other role. Randver refused as they've been working hard and on a tight schedule, that the dubbing was already mixed and that he could not just go back to the casting process at this point, also pointing out that Karl has been approved for both roles by Disney themselves.
The decision was made to credit Karl differently for the two roles: at the cinema premiere, he was credited as Karl Ágúst for Rafiki, and as Ágúst Úlfsson for Pumbaa.
This decision however seems to have confused some people, as Þórhallur "Laddi" Sigurðsson was wrongly credited on the 1994 VHS and in the Newspapers as the voice of Rafiki. That mistake was corrected in the following home media releases.

- It took Þorvaldur Davíð Kristjánsson - the voice of Young Simba - 2 weeks to complete his recordings of the part, and he found dubbing extremely difficult. But he was happy in the end because that role opened up his interest in acting.
