Sweden - November 28, 1986 - For the role of Basil, were suggested, among others :
Philip Zandén, who will eventually dub Fagin two years later in Oliver & Company, and Rasputin in Anastasia, among others;
Nils Eklund, who will end up voicing Hiram Flaversham instead;
Ingvar Kjellson, who had previously dubbed King Stefan in the 1st dub of Sleeping Beauty, Sir Ector in The Sword in the Stone, Edgar in The Aristocats and Prince John in Robin Hood, among others;
and famous Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, who was also thought for the role of Hiram Flaversham in this film; and who portrayed the Grand Duke in the live-action remake of Cinderella in 2015.
For the role of Ratigan, were first thought of, among others :
Stefan Ljungqvist, who will later dub villains Ratcliffe in Pocahontas (1995) and Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) among others;
Tommy Nilsson, who will dub Dodger in Oliver & Company two years later, and John Smith in Pocahontas in 1995;
Jan Malmsjö, who was the voice of Tramp in the 1st dub of Lady and the Tramp, the speaking voice of Prince Phillip in the 1st dub of Sleeping Beauty, the voice of Timothy in the 2nd dub of Dumbo, and the voice of Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast among others.
Then, were also suggested, among others :
Åke Lagergren, who was the Chairman in The Rescuers (1977) and King Stefan in the 1980 re-dub of Sleeping Beauty; and who'll dub Winston in Oliver & Company (1988) and Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast (1991), as Hiram Flaversham;
Margreth Weivers, who dubbed Orwen in the first dub of The Black Cauldron, and will dub Aunt Sarah in the 1989 re-dub of Lady and the Tramp, as the Mouse Queen;
Pontus Gustafsson, who was previously Mowgli in 1967 in The Jungle Book, Bambi in the 1986 re-dub and Tramp in the 1989 re-dub of Lady and the Tramp among others, as Bartholomew;
Mona Seilitz, who'll become the Swedish voice of Cruella de Vil from 1995 to 2003 (animation and live-action), as the Bar Maid;
Lill Lindfors, who was the voice of Flora in the 1980 re-dub of Sleeping Beauty, and who'll become the voice of Georgette in the first dub of Olivier & Company in 1988, as Kitty Mouse;
and Doreen Denning, the dubbing director herself, as Lady Mouse; - Cecilia Schiöld, the voice of Olivia, is known today as Cecilia Olin.
